PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means developing the electronics and mechanical design together, checking how the PCB, connectors, controls, power, and enclosure fit as you iterate.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then size and lay out the board. Build the enclosure around it, including mounts and connector openings. This suits products where electrical requirements drive the design, but the resulting case may be larger or less polished.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, size, and how people use it. Establish space for connectors, controls, and mounting, then design the PCB to fit. This suits products with strict size or appearance requirements, but can make placement, routing, and cooling harder.
Both workflows involve iteration—not a one-way handoff. I haven’t changed your project this session. Execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
