Confirmed the live design target is the eight-port, 155 × 85 mm board. I audited the board and fixed the placement constraints:
  • U12 ESP32, J1 USB-C, JPORT1–JPORT8, board outline, and stackup must remain unchanged.
  • The eight pogo connectors remain the approved two-row array.
  • Only the remaining bottom-side electronics may move.
  • No schematic, component, footprint, GPIO, net, or routing changes are allowed.
The placement optimization pass completed, but I could not retrieve or independently reconcile its final report. Therefore, its placement result is not yet accepted as verified.
Remaining work:
  • Confirm fixed components did not move.
  • Inspect the new power, 3.3 V, I²C, and eight port-protection clusters.
  • Run overlap, bounds, edge, pad-access, RF-keepout, and manufacturability checks.
  • Correct any placement violations.
  • Pause for approval of the finished placement before routing.

No components were moved in this session because tool access is unavailable.
The board remains in its current unrouted placement state. The next pass must preserve the board outline, U12, J1, and JPORT1–JPORT8, while compacting the remaining bottom-side parts into functional power, port-protection, I²C, and logic clusters. Placement then needs overlap, bounds, RF-keepout, and pad-access verification before routing.

KEEP — DO NOT CHANGE
The following Rev A architecture is frozen and must remain unchanged unless a demonstrable electrical error is found:
  1. ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N8R8 as the main controller.
  2. One TCA9548A providing one isolated I²C channel per port.
  3. Eight universal magnetic ports.
  4. Port pinout: Pin 1 = 5V, Pin 2 = GND, Pin 3 = SIG, Pin 4 = SDA, Pin 5 = SCL.
  5. Eight MP5073 per-port protection channels.
  6. USB-C power plus USB 2.0 data.
  7. Six-layer PCB concept.
  8. Elevated-voltage USB-PD architecture remains the starting point: USB-C → CH224K → elevated PD voltage → 5V buck → 5V_MAIN. Direct 5 V / 5 A USB-C is not approved.
Optimization alone is not sufficient reason to change these decisions. Any exception must identify the exact electrical failure, evidence, affected designators, and minimum corrective change.
