PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means working through the electronics, PCB, enclosure, and firmware together—then checking how they fit, function, and can be manufactured.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, place components, and establish the board’s shape. Then design the enclosure around the PCB, connectors, mounting points, and cooling needs. This works well when electronics drive the product; the trade-off is that the case may need to grow around them.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s size, appearance, controls, and connector access. Then shape and arrange the PCB to fit inside. This works well when ergonomics or a fixed space matters most; the trade-off is tighter placement and routing constraints.
Neither is strictly one-way: expect iterations between board and enclosure before manufacturing. I haven’t changed your project this session; this was an overview only. Execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
