PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means developing the electronics and mechanical design together—moving from requirements through schematic, PCB layout, enclosure, and manufacturing files, with checks along the way.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then place and route the board, and design the enclosure around it. This works well when electronics drive the product; connector access, mounting, and enclosure size still need early planning.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, size, controls, and ports, then design the PCB to fit. This suits products with strict physical constraints, but may require more placement compromises or multiple boards.
In practice, both are iterative: “first” sets the main constraint, not a rigid sequence. I haven’t changed your project in this session; this was an overview only. Execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
