PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means working through the electronics, PCB, enclosure, and firmware together—checking how power, connectors, mounting, and assembly fit into one device.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then size and lay out the board. Design the enclosure around its connectors, mounting holes, and component heights. This feels natural when electronics drive the product and the external shape is flexible.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, size, controls, and connector locations. Fit the PCB and electronics into that space, adjusting placement and checking clearances as you go. This suits handheld products or devices that must fit an existing space, but tight packaging can require more iteration.
Both workflows loop between board and enclosure; the difference is which sets the constraints first. I haven’t changed your project this session. Execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
