PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means working through the electronics, PCB, firmware, enclosure, and manufacturing requirements together, checking how each decision affects the others.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, place connectors and components, then shape and route the board. Design the enclosure around it afterward. This works well when electrical performance drives the product, but can leave you with a larger or less polished enclosure.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s size, appearance, controls, and mounting needs. Fit the board and connector locations into that space, then develop the electronics within those constraints. This suits handheld or space-constrained products, but can make PCB placement and routing harder.
In practice, both are iterative: establish the most important constraints first, then check board–enclosure fit throughout rather than finishing one in isolation. I haven’t changed your project; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
