PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means working through the electronics, PCB, enclosure, and firmware together—checking that electrical requirements, connector access, mechanical fit, and manufacturing constraints agree.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then place and route the board, and design an enclosure around it. This works well when electronics drive the product; the trade-off is less freedom over the final shape and size.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, mounting, controls, and connector openings, then design the PCB to fit. This works well when ergonomics or a fixed space drive the product; fitting and routing the electronics can take more iteration.
In practice, both workflows loop between board and enclosure rather than finishing one completely before starting the other. I haven’t changed your project this session; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
