PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means working through the electronics, PCB, enclosure, and how they fit together—not just drawing a circuit.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then size and lay out the board, then design an enclosure around it. This suits projects where electronics drive the requirements; the main trade-off is that the case may need to accommodate connector positions and board dimensions.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, mounting, controls, and connector openings, then design the PCB to fit. This suits products with strict size or appearance requirements; the trade-off is tighter constraints on component placement and routing.
Both workflows are iterative: check fit, access, heat, and manufacturability as the design develops. I haven’t changed your project this session; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
