PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means developing the electronics and mechanical packaging together, checking that power, connectors, mounting, cooling, and assembly all fit the intended use.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then size and lay out the board, and design an enclosure around it. This suits projects where electronics drive the design; the trade-off is less freedom over the final product’s size and shape.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, how users interact with it, and where ports and controls belong. Then fit the PCB inside those constraints. This suits space-constrained or appearance-driven products, but may require more layout iterations or multiple boards.
Both workflows are iterative—not a one-way handoff—and benefit from early fit checks. I haven’t changed your project; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
