PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means iterating on the electronics, PCB, and enclosure together—balancing electrical needs with connector access, mounting, power, heat, and assembly.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then place and route the board. Build the enclosure around its outline, connectors, and mounting holes. This suits projects where electronics drive the design, though the finished case may be larger or less constrained in shape.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s size, shape, controls, and connector locations. Design the PCB to fit that space. This suits handheld or space-constrained products, but fitting and routing the electronics may require more iteration.
Both workflows converge on checking mechanical fit, electrical correctness, and manufacturability before prototyping. I made no project changes this session; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
