FPGA Build Validation
Outcome
Current status: static board-constraint audit completed; synthesis/P&R still blocked. Seven authoritative board files were uploaded individually and reviewed: PINMAP, board LPF, wrapper RTL, SPI bridge RTL, BOARD_LOCK, SYSCONFIG, and the official ECP5U-85 CABGA381 pinout. No synthesis, place-and-route, packing, utilization, timing, or bitstream result is claimed because the complete fabric RTL and ECP5 toolchain are not yet available.
Static Audit Result — 2026-09-10
  • bind_8c_board_top exposes exactly 11 external user-I/O ports; the 124-bit fabric interface remains internal.
  • Every top-level port is located exactly once in bind_8c_board.lpf and configured as LVCMOS33.
  • LPF locations match PINMAP.csv: clk A10, rst_n C10, spi_sclk D10, spi_mosi E10, spi_miso C9, spi_cs_n B9, spi_irq E9, dbg_tick_start D9, dbg_tick_done A7, dbg_gate_all B8, heartbeat C8.
  • No duplicate user-I/O balls were found.
  • All 11 user-I/O balls match the official CABGA381 function and bank-0 mapping.
  • Clock is A10 / PT63A / PCLKT0_1, bank 0, with a 25.00 MHz LPF constraint.
  • sysCONFIG assignments and straps match Master-SPI mode 010; JTAG assignments match the official pinout.
  • Wrapper-to-spi_reg_bridge named connections are structurally consistent for the declared bridge interface.
  • Documentation warning: PINMAP.csv says dbg_gate_all has a 10 kΩ pull-up, while the LPF uses PULLMODE=DOWN. Because gate_all is active high, the pull-down is the safe inactive default. Treat the PINMAP note as a documentation error unless the hardware specification intentionally changes.
Static-audit conclusion
The uploaded board pin plan is internally consistent and suitable to freeze for schematic/PCB physical planning, subject to successful synthesis and P&R of the complete fabric. This static result does not prove timing, routability, utilization, or bitstream correctness.
Legacy Build Artifact Audit — 2026-09-10
The complete legacy source/artifact set was supplied individually. The existing synth_8c_ecp5.sh builds only bind_fabric_8c from the RCF synthesis sources. Its nextpnr invocation specifies --85k but has no package, speed grade, LPF, or board wrapper, so the accompanying JSON/config/BIN are not valid board images.
The legacy synthesized JSON confirms top bind_fabric_8c and excludes bind_8c_board_top and spi_reg_bridge. Extracted synthesized cell inventory: 883 LUT4, 539 TRELLIS_FF, 207 CCU2C, 103 PFUMX, 7 DP16KD, 5 L6MUX21, and 1 MULT18X18D (1745 total cells). These figures are baseline-only and do not include the SPI wrapper.
Remaining implementation blocker
The current execution environment does not provide yosys, nextpnr-ecp5, or ecppack; therefore a new constrained board build, routed timing result, and board bitstream cannot be generated here. The required corrected flow must synthesize top bind_8c_board_top, include spi_reg_bridge.v plus the four synthesis RTL sources, and run nextpnr for ECP5-85 with CABGA381, speed grade 6, and bind_8c_board.lpf before packing a new image.
Board Build Acceptance — 2026-09-11
The engineer returned a new board-specific image and complete evidence set. Raw-log review confirms:
  • Top bind_8c_board_top synthesized successfully; Yosys hierarchy/check reported zero problems.
  • nextpnr routed successfully and finished normally for ECP5-85, CABGA381, speed grade 6.
  • All 11 LPF-constrained LVCMOS33 ports were placed on their locked bank-0 balls; clock A10 was promoted to a global network.
  • Post-route Fmax is 70.67 MHz, passing the 25.00 MHz requirement with substantial margin.
  • Utilization: 11 TRELLIS_IO, 1425 TRELLIS_COMB, 807 TRELLIS_FF, 7 DP16KD, 1 MULT18X18D.
  • Config identifies .device LFE5U-85F and part LFE5U-85F-6CABGA381.
  • Accepted board-image SHA-256: 4a0c01a34736061b9e9ae426da1944f6c36ad5a01eaf39be279d0e301172ca48.
Acceptance and residual validation
The FPGA build is accepted as Class B evidence and the locked pinout is frozen for PCB physical design. The generic 256x16 RAM replacement inferred 7 DP16KD and requires first-hardware functional confirmation because the implementation relies on synthesis merging of identical uninitialized cluster memories. Class C evidence requires programming assembled hardware and reading SPI MAGIC = 0xB1D8, followed by the documented cluster bring-up sequence. Lattice Power Estimator remains recommended before final regulator/thermal sign-off but does not block placement.
The schematic and PCB were not modified.

ItemStatusEvidence / blocker
1. Safely unpack/read authoritative inputsFailed/mnt/data was empty and no project asset corresponding to BIND_8C_BOARD_v1.zip or for-flux.zip was discoverable. Without source bytes, archive safety, locks, RTL, scripts, and logs cannot be audited.
2. Reconcile wrapper, LPF, and PINMAPUnattemptedBlocked by unavailable ZIP contents. A generated checker is stored for deterministic execution once the files are accessible.
3. Check/use ECP5 flowCompleted (availability check only)yosys, nextpnr-ecp5, ecppack, Project Trellis utilities, Docker, and Podman were not found. unzip 6.00 and Python 3.13.5 were available.
4. Run synthesis/P&R and create imageUnattemptedBlocked by both unavailable source inputs and absent FPGA tools. No .bit or .bin was generated.
5. Review implementation warningsUnattemptedNo implementation logs exist from this run.
6. Record utilization, timing, and assignmentsUnattemptedNo valid board build or locked source audit was possible. Existing unconstrained figures are intentionally not reused.
7. Save durable generated artifactsCompleted (blocked-flow artifacts)Syntax-validated build driver, syntax-validated static checker, and this report are stored as clearly generated files.
Generated Artifacts
  • BIND_8C_BOARD_generated_build — explicit-input build driver for bind_8c_board_top, LFE5U-85F, CABGA381, speed 6, 25 MHz; writes only to a generated output directory and records tool/input hashes.
  • BIND_8C_BOARD_generated_validate_constraints — checks wrapper/LPF/PINMAP coverage, exact ball equality, duplicate balls, explicit LVCMOS33, A10 clock assignment, reserved bank-8 misuse, optional official-pinout bank agreement, and leakage of the wide internal BIND buses.
  • This file: build status, evidence, and blockers.
Both scripts passed syntax validation (bash -n and python3 -m py_compile). They were not run against authoritative design inputs because those inputs were unavailable.
Required Reproduction Inputs
Place the two generated scripts alongside a safely extracted, unchanged board pack and provide explicit paths:

Bash

export BOARD_ROOT=/path/to/BIND_8C_BOARD_v1
export RTL_FILELIST=path/in/pack/to/authoritative_rtl_filelist.f
export WRAPPER=path/in/pack/to/locked_wrapper.sv
export LPF=path/in/pack/to/locked_board.lpf
export CHECKER=/path/to/BIND_8C_BOARD_generated_validate_constraints.py
export OFFICIAL_PINOUT_CSV=path/in/pack/to/official_ecp5_85f_cabga381_pinout.csv
bash /path/to/BIND_8C_BOARD_generated_build.sh
The run must occur in the pack's verified environment or another environment containing Yosys, nextpnr-ecp5 with ECP5/Trellis support, and ecppack. The generated tool-and-input-manifest.txt captures exact versions and SHA-256 hashes; pinning the containing image/digest is required for a fully deterministic rerun.
Warning Classification
  • Hardware-affecting warning review: not available; no synthesis/P&R logs were produced.
  • Unconstrained ports / failed LOCATEs: not evaluated against the pack.
  • Bank voltage / sysCONFIG / JTAG misuse: not evaluated against the pack.
  • Clock promotion / timing: not evaluated; no achieved or maximum frequency is reported.
  • Packing/routing failures: not evaluated.
Exact Blocker Before PCB Physical Design
Do not treat the FPGA image as validated for PCB physical design until the authoritative board ZIP is accessible to the execution environment and a complete ECP5 toolchain is available. A successful rerun must preserve the locked wrapper and assignments, pass the generated static checker, complete nextpnr routing at 25 MHz, and produce reviewed logs plus a new bitstream.
