PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means developing the electronics and mechanical packaging together—balancing circuit needs, connector access, mounting, power, and manufacturability.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then size and lay out the board, and build an enclosure around it. This works well when electrical performance drives the design; the trade-off is that the enclosure may need to accommodate the board’s shape and connector locations.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s size, shape, controls, and openings, then fit the PCB inside those constraints. This works well when appearance, ergonomics, or a fixed mounting space matters most; it can make PCB placement and routing more constrained.
Both workflows are iterative: check board-to-enclosure fit, adjust mounting and connectors, and verify before manufacturing. I haven’t changed your project this session; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
