PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means developing the electronics and mechanical design together—moving from requirements through schematics, PCB layout, enclosure fit, and manufacturing files, with checks along the way.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then size and arrange the board around electrical needs. Design the enclosure around the board, connectors, and mounting holes afterward. This works well when electronics drive the product; the trade-off is less freedom over the final shape.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, mounting, controls, and connector openings. Fit the PCB and components into that space. This works well when appearance or installation constraints dominate; the trade-off is tighter placement and routing constraints.
In practice, both workflows involve iteration: establish what cannot move first, then check board-to-enclosure fit before committing to manufacturing. I haven’t changed your project; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
