PCB-First vs Enclosure-First Design

Briefly describe what it's like to design a complete product in Flux. Help me understand what the PCB-first and enclosure-first design workflows are like to work with.
Designing a complete product in Flux means developing the electronics and mechanical design together—moving from requirements through schematic, PCB layout, enclosure, and manufacturing files, with checks along the way.
  • PCB-first: Start with the circuit, then place connectors and components and shape the board. Design the enclosure around it afterward. This suits electronics-driven projects, but the board can dictate the product’s size and appearance.
  • Enclosure-first: Start with the product’s shape, mounting, controls, and connector access. Fit the board and electronics inside those constraints. This suits handheld or space-constrained products, but may require tighter placement or a more complex board.
Both workflows are iterative: connector access, mounting holes, cooling, and assembly need coordination throughout. I haven’t changed your project this session; execution stopped because your ACUs ran out.
