Part Metadata Review and Update

I reviewed the part against the official Molex drawing and the current part project, using the datasheet as the source of truth for pin/count verification as recommended in the part-project sync workflow
Result
  • Datasheet URL already exists, so I did not change it.
  • The project is mostly structurally correct for a 48-circuit connector.
  • The main issues are:
    • metadata is incomplete / too generic
    • all schematic terminals currently have Pin Type = Unspecified
    • the two mechanical PCB-lock features are modeled as electrical-style terminals/pads: MH1 and MH2

Cross-check summary Part metadata
Looks present
  • Manufacturer Name
  • Manufacturer Part Number
  • Part Type
  • Designator Prefix
  • Mount
  • Datasheet URL
Issues
  • Mount = "Solder" is too vague; datasheet indicates Through Hole.
  • Part Type = "Connectors" is valid but generic; datasheet is more specific: right-angle sealed CMC header.
  • Description is not very specific relative to the datasheet wording.
  • I saw an MPN formatting inconsistency across project/indexed metadata vs datasheet notation:
    • common marketing format: 36638-0003
    • drawing/PDF filename format: 366380003
    • one indexed result also showed a leading-zero variant
      This is worth normalizing.
Schematic symbol
What matches
  • The project contains 48 contact terminals, which matches the datasheet circuit count.
  • The naming pattern appears consistent with a 4-row connector matrix.
Mismatch / concern
  • There are 50 total terminals in the symbol, not 48, because MH1 and MH2 are included as terminal components.
  • Those two appear to represent the mechanical PCB-lock / mounting features, not electrical contacts.
  • All terminals I checked currently have Pin Type = Unspecified, which is incomplete metadata.
Footprint
What matches
  • The footprint contains 48 signal pads, which aligns with the connector contacts.
  • It also contains 2 extra mechanical features, matching the datasheet’s PCB-lock holes/features.
Mismatch / concern
  • The two mechanical features appear to be modeled as Pads, not clearly as non-electrical mechanical holes.
  • If those are meant to be pure PCB locks, they should be treated as mechanical/non-signal features, not normal electrical pins.
Pin descriptions
Mismatch
  • I did not find meaningful pin descriptions populated on the terminals.
  • For a connector like this, the current terminal metadata is minimal:
    • Pin Number set
    • Pin Type mostly unspecified
    • no useful per-pin functional description beyond the cavity name

Recommended cleanup
  • Normalize metadata:
    • MPN formatting
    • more specific description
    • Mount = Through Hole
  • Mark the 48 real contacts with appropriate connector pin metadata.
  • Reclassify MH1 and MH2 as mechanical/non-electrical features if that matches your intended part behavior.
  • Add better pin descriptions if you want this part to be easier to use downstream.
If you want, I can do the next pass and clean up the part metadata and terminal properties for you.
