Project Idea Start

Local spacing and neckdown attempts did not improve the 27 blocked 0.5 mm-pitch pins, so the limitation is now the standard-density routing rules rather than placement. The existing schematic, 50 mm outline, antenna keepout, and validated placement remain preserved.
I’ll switch the board to a high-density fabrication profile, keep the 50 mm outline and placement fixed, then re-run fine-pitch preflight. If the pins clear, I’ll route the board and complete the final DRC loop.
The high-density profile cleared preflight, and the main routing pass completed with one remaining ground connection; that final connection is now routed. I’m running the full DRC and checking antenna, copper, power-stage, and manufacturing findings before closing.
Routing is complete: 0 airwires, 0 redundant traces, and 0 blocking DRC/ERC errors. The BM83 antenna keepout is preserved, and the high-density four-layer profile supports the fine-pitch ICs.
Open items:
  • Advisory high board-density warning.
  • C7 decoupling-loop-area warning; electrically routed but worth tightening in a later optimization pass.
  • U2 uses a board-level workaround for an erroneous library footprint feature; the issue was reported internally.
Suggested next steps:
  1. Optimize C7 and re-route locally.
  2. Generate a board bring-up plan.
  3. Export Gerbers, BOM, and pick-and-place files.

Placement Review
Scoped VOUT repair — 2026-09-17
This update supersedes the historical SMPS failure and C6/C7 coordinates below. The scoped power-stage repair is completed; overall placement remains incomplete because the antenna keepout is absent.
  • Completed — adjustment and commit: #5930aaa6 moves only C6 and C7 from X=5.7 mm to X=7.2 mm. C6 remains Y=-13.4 mm and C7 Y=-11.8 mm; both remain Top, 180° CCW. U3/L1/C5/C8 and every other component are unchanged. The intact output bank is shifted right to open the upward VOUT exit. Inductor orientation and switch-pin geometry are preserved. History diff confirms exactly two component-rule paths changed.
  • Completed — read-only placement verification: checks at 2026-09-17T00:34:28.581Z return no Switching Power Stage errors, body-overlap findings, outside-board findings, edge-placement findings, keepout findings, or protected-intrusion findings. The move also reports overlaps=0, out-of-bounds=0, keepout violations=0. Required loop and power-path placement criteria pass; this is not routed-copper validation.
  • Warning — C7: the shift introduces a Decoupling Loop Area advisory associated with U3.FB/PGND (tool target ≤8.0 mm²). This is separate from the required Switching Power Stage criteria, which have no remaining errors. The pre-existing density advisory remains relevant.
  • Failed — confirmation of represented, unviolated BM83 antenna keepout: fresh full-board scene-tree inspection finds no zone or polygon nodes. Inspection of U1's complete footprint and project rulesets finds no enforced antenna keepout. Therefore zero keepout findings cannot certify antenna clearance. The previously documented authoritative geometry blocker remains; no guessed exclusion was added and no RF-region geometry was changed in this cluster-only repair. A separate datasheet-backed all-layer keepout task is still required before routing.
  • Unattempted — unrelated U2 footprint remediation: five pre-existing EXP-to-mount copper-overlap errors remain. They are outside this cluster-only scope.
  • Unattempted — routing, intentionally: no traces or vias were routed or edited in this repair.
Status
Partial placement saved; NOT placement-complete and NOT ready for routing. Latest PCB placement commit: #da9a71c4 (2026-09-17 00:27:21 UTC). All 40 existing components were positioned. No schematic components, values, nets, or connections were changed, and no traces were routed.

USB right, headphone jack left, controls/LEDs lower perimeterCompletedJ1 and J3 both 90° CCW; openings point right and left respectively. SW1 faces down. No edge-placement findings in final checks. SW2 is top-actuated near the lower edge, not a side-actuated switch.
J2 lower-right cable accessFailed: verification incompleteJ2 is lower-right, 0°, but authoritative mating-direction lookup remained evidence_pending after two attempts. Final cable-access certification remains open.
RF anchor / antenna outwardCompleted for placement onlyU1 top, 0°, antenna end toward +Y. Body remains inside circle.
Full BM83 antenna keepout on all copper layers, components excludedFailed: geometry unresolvedNo inherited real keepout was found. Datasheet establishes antenna restrictions but retrieval did not resolve a usable numerical antenna boundary. No guessed keepout was added. The zero keepout-violation count therefore DOES NOT certify RF clearance. Automatic GND stitching is visible in the upper region and must be excluded when the keepout is authored.
USB/charging and battery zoningCompleted for first-pass placementF1 and D1 between J1 and U2; battery connector below charger. Small support passives placed bottom around charger pins, avoiding its footprint thermal holes.
Buck-boost power-stage placementFailed: one required error remainsAll loop, inductor-facing, and trial-route-blocked findings resolved except U3.VOUT pin-exit corridor. Two targeted remedies were attempted; stop/review rather than repeating.
Audio placementCompleted for first-pass placementU4 left, C9/C10 bottom by input pins, C11 bottom at charge-pump pins, C12/C13 nearby, C14 bottom at supply side; separated from lower-right switching stage. Routing symmetry is not yet verified.
Bluetooth support placementCompleted for first-pass placementC15–C17/R6 bottom near lower U1 pins; SW2 and D3/D4 lower perimeter. Existing D3/D4 connect directly to module LED sinks; no associated series resistors were added.
Overlaps / bounds / edge checksCompletedFinal placement mutation reports overlaps=0, out-of-bounds=0, existing-keepout violations=0. Final read-only checks have no body-overlap, outside-board, or edge-placement findings. Connector-rule-permitted overhang retained.
Placement and DRC reviewCompleted, not cleanOne SMPS error, five footprint-internal copper overlap errors, and one density warning remain.
Commit and reportCompletedPCB mutations persisted in history; report contains coordinate/side list and blockers.
Trace routingUnattempted, intentionallyExplicitly excluded from scope. No routeSegment nodes in final summary. Six automatic via nodes are present from existing fill/stitching behavior; no trace/via routing tool was called.
Coordinates and rotations
Positions in mm about board origin. Rotations are absolute CCW in layout coordinates; small read-back rounding applies.

Fit and final verification
Board area is approximately 1963 mm² versus 1234 mm² reported total footprint area: 62.8% aggregate fill. The tool's routing-expanded area is 1977 mm² (100.7%), producing a density warning. Its layer-fit prose incorrectly aggregates all 40 components onto Top despite its own per-component table confirming 17 Bottom components; use the table, not that aggregate, for side assignments. This is a geometric first-pass fit, not proof of routability or RF clearance. Silkscreen remains crowded and needs a later cleanup pass.
Final read-only review timestamp: 2026-09-17T00:27:43.551Z.
  • Error — Switching Power Stage: U3.VOUT (3V3) has no clear exit within 1.5 mm on any side (C6.P2, L1.P2). Leave one side of U3.VOUT open toward its cap bank. All other required SMPS findings cleared. A next reviewed remedy is to spread L1 left and shift the C6/C7 rail right, then recheck hot loops and pin exits; do not route through the current blocked corridor.
  • Error — Overlapping Copper: five overlaps between U2.EXP and U2 footprint-owned thermal/mount pad nodes. These are internal to the library footprint rather than collisions between placed parts; moving U2 cannot fix them. Review the thermal-hole copper/net binding before release; no footprint geometry was modified in this placement task.
  • Warning — Board Density: tight fit as above.
  • No returned findings for body overlaps, outside-board components, edge placement, existing keepout violations, or stackup validation. This does not mean a missing antenna keepout passed.
Antenna evidence and unresolved geometry
The BM83 requires at least 15 mm clearance from its PCB trace antenna to external metal, and the host area under the antenna must have no copper on top, inner, or bottom layers. Figure 7-6 marks the antenna-side area as no copper, no component, and keep-out. The module PCB is 15.0 × 32.0 mm; the existing library's larger 18 × 34.5 mm outline is not the module PCB outline.
The retrieval did not establish a numerical antenna trace extent or lower boundary of the host keepout. The 15 mm requirement must not be reinterpreted as a dimension measured from the module top edge. Obtain the figure artwork or verified manufacturer reference-layout geometry, translate it into this layout frame, author the real all-layer keepout, and rerun copper/component checks. Do not treat upper free-looking board area as an enforced exclusion.
